敷地からは海が見えない。それでも、この家の中心には海がある。
建築主の生活に海は欠かせないものだった。見えないなら、感じさせる。海の記憶を惹起させる空間をつくることが、この設計の出発点だった。真っ白な外壁に荒々しいレッドウッドを織り交ぜた外観は、海辺のリゾートを想起させる。内装は建築主が丁寧に作り上げたスクラップブックと、建築主が旅した南国リゾートの記憶を手がかりに詰めていった。
